Create Your Team Now

League Star game rules are essentially the same as those of the other major fantasy football competitions. Therefore, if you are accustomed to playing on one of these sites you will be at home here. Although the rules are very similar amongst the three or four major game sites, there are some significant differences, therefore it is incumbent upon you to carefully read and understand these rules. League Star endeavors to design the game rules to make fantasy play as close as possible to actual Premier League play. Your skills as a manager-owner, not mere luck or chance, will determine your degree of success and reward.

Select Your Squad

Players are selected at time of sign up using the Team Builder application. You must select players to fill the following positions from a list of Premier League players. You team players must play in the same positions they occupy in the Premier League. For example, a defender in the Premier League must play as a defender on you team as well, he may not play as a midfielder or defender.

3 Forwards
5 Defenders
5 Midfielders
2 Goalkeeper

You may pick a maximum of 2 players from any single team. The total amount you have to purchase players with is 100 million pounds sterling. Any player transfers during the season which puts you over this limit will make your team illegal if not corrected by the deadline for the next game week. This will require that you bring your squad back under the limit when making your next transfers. Teams that are illegal for any reason at game time will not be eligible to compete and earn points. Players have been assigned values based upon their past performance and condition. Values are based upon data supplied by a highly respected and acknowledged independent rating agency. Current player values may be seen by clicking Player Values.

Starting Squads

No later than one hour prior to each game week you must select the 11 players out of your total of 15 to make up your starting team. Players who do not play in the week's game will not earn points. Players may not play out of their designated team position. This rule applies to all players acquired prior to and during the season.
Use the Team Builder to configure your team for the week.

Substitutions

If your goalkeeper plays no part in the Game Week, then League Star will substitute him for your replacement goalkeeper, assuming your substitute goalkeeper did play during that week. If any of your outfield players play no part in the Game Week, League Star will try to substitute the inactive player for one of your replacements. This is done by replacing him with your highest priority substitute who actually played in the Game Week.

Deadlines

All substitutions, transfers, designation of captains, and team changes of any kind must be completed prior to the deadline for the prospective game week. These deadlines are noted below:

Scoring

The players that you select will be credited with the points they score during official Barclays Premiership games that they play in during the week. Assists

An assist is awarded when the goal scorer receives the ball directly from a team mate and scores. Assists are defined as all crosses, passes and headers which a player makes that are directly responsible for a goal. If the assist pass takes a small deflection which doesn't change the direction of the pass, it will still be given. No assists are awarded for a player's own goals, in other words he may not score a goal and the assist associated with that goal, No assists are awarded for penalties. Live assists will be awarded only after review and confirmation normally within 24 hours of the game. There is no assist awarded a player earning a free kick if a goal results directly from it.

Transfers

Once your squad is selected you may refine your choices through transfers. Managers are not limited in the number of squad transfers they can make, however only 1 free transfer can be made between each game week deadline. All further transfers made in the same Game Week will incur a 4 points charge that will be deducted from your total at the next deadline. Free transfers are not carried over from week to week. Player values, and therefore their prices, fluctuate over the season. Transfers are made at the price of each player at the time of the transfer.

Trades

Trades, as opposed to transfers, are made between two Owner-Managers in the same league. You may negotiate a player exchange, or trade, with another manager in your league by posting your proposed trade on the League Blog. If another Manager agrees to trade one or more of his players for the player you wish to trade out you can enter into a trade. Trades are considered as transfers in that you are permitted one free trade/transfer each week and each subsequent trade/transfer incurs a 4 point penalty. All trades are subject to the approval of your fellow team Managers. If five of the twelve Managers in a league object to your trade it is denied. This guards against collusion and makes certain that the game stays fair. Most League administrators use a review and approval process to police trades and ours is simple, quick, decisive and fair.

Winning Cash and Earning League Positions

Throughout the season your team plays against the other teams in your league. The scheduling of games is designed so that you will never play the same team two weeks in a row. In 11 weeks you will play against every team in your league. The purpose of the weekly games is to allow you to go head to head with your mates' teams if they have joined you in a league. Your team placement within your league is determined by the number of game wins your team achieves during the regular season. For example, if your team has won 21games and this is the highest "Win" total of the 12 teams in your League you would place first in your league for the season. Important, your team placement for purposes of cash awards is based exclusively on the total of points your team players score during the month, for monthly subscriptions; or season, for season subscribers. It is therefore possible, for example, to place number one in your league and place in a different position, say number two, in the season points standing. It is the points standings upon which your winnings are based. This prevents collusion between "cooperating" managers and keeps the game fair for everyone.
Teams earn points at the end of each game week in accordance with the above Scoring rules. Ties are rare, however they do occur. In the event of a tie the team who has retained the greatest number of his original players will be deemed the winner. If this does not resolve the tie the winner shall be the player who registered his team first with League Star Pty.
